Forest ecosystems - trees, soil, water, undergrowth, all living things in a forest - are critical to maintaining life on earth. To help preserve these ecosystems, we provide wood products that are FSC-certified, thus protecting biodiversity through credible and healthy forest practices
The FSC-Certification assures you that the wood was harvested within a strict set of guidelines that are internationally recognized. Forest Stewardship Council members include many of the most progressive environmental organizations in the world including: The Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Restoration Forestry
Many of our public and private forests are threatened by disease and the threat of catastophic fire. Forest eco-systems are out of balance and in need of help. Partnerships between environmental groups, local citizens and land managers are beginning to create solutions for the forest. By very selective thinning of the small timber that threatens the forest, we can indeed begin to return old growth forests.
The Restoration Forestry programs are developing throughout the West, including California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The wood from these programs is being made into dimension lumber, flooring, windows and our new storage system.

Reclaimed Timber
Most reclaimed timber was originally sawn from old growth trees which were substantially larger than the timber available today. The slower natural growth rate produced tight growth rings which provides stability and strength.
The wood has been drying and developing patina for many years. Most reclaimed wood we work with is between 40 and 150 years old. The tight grain structure combined with the years of drying provide beautiful timbers to work with. We can provide as-is, resized, or resawn to mantels, flooring or siding. The natural character of this wood provides a unique tranquility and transforms your new living space to your home.

Recycled Lumber
The wood waste from new construction sites and industrial packaging (pallets & crating) is a much bigger problem than most people are aware of. The percentage of wood in the solid waste stream can range from 20% to 40%. We are committed to creating new building products from this resource. Certainly co-generation of electricity, and the potential of bio fuels in the future make great sense, but some of the wood in the waste stream should be reused by engineering new products for construction. We are currently sorting industrial packaging and creating beautiful flooring. We are also continuing research on new technology to help us utilize this material in new products.
